Not a Doctor
What POLARITY is — and what it isn't
We want to be completely clear about this, so here it is in plain words.
POLARITY is a self-observation and journaling tool — a wellness product. It is not a medical device, and it is not a healthcare service. We are not doctors, therapists, or a medical organization. We're an independent developer who built a calm place for you to notice how you're doing, day to day.
No diagnosis, no treatment — ever
POLARITY is a self-observation tool, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, prevent, or manage any medical or mental-health condition, and it is not a substitute for professional care. It makes no health claims. If something in your life needs a doctor's attention, please bring it to a doctor — that's what they're wonderful at, and it's exactly what we are not.
What POLARITY actually does
One short daily check-in — mood, sleep, energy and related signals, in your own words and taps. POLARITY then shows your entries back to you as trends and a gentle daily reflection, generated privately on your device, from your own entries only, and always labeled “Not medical advice”. Every insight in the app is a reorganization of what you yourself wrote down — nothing more, and we think that's the point.
About the numbers
Numbers in the app — like the Stability reading — are descriptive summaries of your own logging. They're self-awareness aids: a way to see your recent entries at a glance. They are never clinical scores, assessments, or predictions, and they don't know anything about you beyond what you chose to log.
About medication tracking
Medication tracking in POLARITY is a diary of what you choose to record — a quiet note of what you took and when. POLARITY never suggests medications, doses, or changes to either — and it never will. Any decision about treatment or medication belongs to you and your clinician, and only there.
Reports are for conversations
The reports feature exists so that, if you choose, you can bring an organized PDF of your own entries to your doctor or therapist — your words, your numbers, arranged for a richer conversation. Sharing is always initiated by you; we are never a party to it. And we genuinely encourage it: if you notice something in the app that stays with you, please discuss it with a qualified professional.
In an emergency
POLARITY is not an emergency or crisis service, and it cannot detect crises. If you ever feel unsafe, contact your local emergency number right away, or reach out to someone you trust. Many countries also have free crisis lines you can call or text at any hour — in the US, for example, you can dial 988.
